Sue A. Springer
Date Of Birth: 11/27/1937
Date of Death: 05/19/2023
Sue’s outgoing personality and her love for life was recognized in every room she entered. We lost a companion, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother.
She was born in Salem, OR on Nov. 27, 1937, to Austin and Elma Wilson. At the age of 12, Sue lost her father to a heart attack while he was hunting in Prairie City, OR. She graduated with honors from North Salem High School in 1955, and continued her education at Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR. While going to college she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega, and she worked summers at the Oregon State Mental Hospital where she met Jim Springer while he was there on funeral business. They married April 18th, 1958.
She completed her degree in Education in 1959 and started work at a grade school in the Salem area. Jim and Sue then moved to Portland where they decided they were ready to start a family. They had three children, Lisa (1960), Todd (1963), and John (1966). Sue dedicated her life to being a homemaker serving her family with love, joy, and kindness. Sue and Jim raised their family in Beaverton, OR where they owned Pegg, Paxson, and Springer Funeral Home from 1966-1983. They also had a farm where they raised Polled Herefords and were involved with the kids in 4-H and the Washington County Fair. For years Sue led Bible studies out of her home, she also started the Woman’s Bible Study at Powell Butte Christian Church in 1982 that it is still going to this day which is great since the pastor at the time told her “good luck keeping it going”. Upon Jim’s retirement Sue and the family moved to Powell Butte, OR where they ranched and continued to raise prized Polled Herefords. In 1993 they moved back to Beaverton, OR and developed Springwood, a 55 and older manufactured home park. In November of 2004, Jim passed away. Sue continued managing Springwood and spending time with kids and grandkids. Her entire life she shared her love for Jesus with others, found a way to make a connection with anyone, loved her family unconditionally, and never missed an opportunity to make memories with those she loved.
In 2011 she met Joe Myers, who was very dear to her all the way up into the end. Together they continued watching the grandkids in sports, 4-H, and Rodeo. Every winter Sue and Joe traveled Palm Desert, CA. They enjoyed going to the spa together, and when they got back to Beaverton they would hop into Sue’s blue ’56 Chevy and go to car shows.
Sue is survived by her companion; Joe Myers. Her children; Lisa (Bill) Forester, Todd (Andrea) Springer, and John (Dani) Springer. Grandchildren; Joe (Mary) Watson, Katy (Ryan) Kimball, Briana (Drew) Van Roekel, Mitchel (Maddy) Springer, and Gage Springer. And her great grandchildren; Stella, Eden, Nate, Kodee, Josie, Rosie, Gracie, and Ridge.
A private entombment was held at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery where Sue was placed next to Jim.
A Celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 6th, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Beaverton Four Square. Where Rick Ellingson will Officiate.
